What is Trauma?

One can be traumatized upon seeing or going through a situation that exceeds our natural capacity to cope and can leave wounds that deeply affect well-being and overall quality of life!

For example, an unforeseen event such as a car accident, earthquake, act of terrorism, or divorce has the potential to drastically alter our lives.

When the person who is supposed to love, nurture, and safeguard us becomes the source of harm, our entire world shatters, leaving us with a profound sense of insecurity and feeling unsafe.

Our struggle to break free from these thoughts and feelings can have a cruel impact on our lives!

For some of us…

The trauma began in such an unsuspecting moment that we felt like we were sucker-punched to our soul leaving us emotionally winded and struggling to cope.

This often becomes a whirlwind of wounding blows from the person who could have rescued us, and we are left feeling emotionally raw, devastated and overwhelmed.

I often hear things like:

“I’m so stupid! I should have known better.”

“How did I not see this - there must be something wrong with me.”

“I’ll never trust anyone again.”

“Sometimes I feel like I just can’t breathe.”

All of these components the result of an overwhelmed body and mind.

I know that you do not deserve what has happened to you! I also know that we can heal! We can learn to take our lives back. What has happened to us does not have to define us. Taking care of our heart, mind, body, and spirit are necessary steps for us to heal.

While we can’t change what has happened to us - we can do what it takes to get our lives back!

My goal is to support people to move forward in their lives, realize their potential, and make change that is meaningful to them!
